Storefront Setup
Your Blindstrader storefront is the customer-facing face of your retail business. This guide covers connecting to Suppliers, adopting products, and configuring your storefront settings.
Connecting to a Supplier
- Go to Connections → Suppliers.
- Search by supplier name or browse the directory.
- Click Request Connection.
- The Supplier is notified and must approve.
Once connected, you can view the Supplier's published product catalog and start adopting products.
Adopting Products
"Adopting" a product means adding it to your own Retailer catalog with your own retail pricing.
To adopt individual products:
- Go to Catalog → Adopt Products.
- Browse or search the connected Supplier's catalog.
- Click Adopt next to a product.
- Set your retail price (the price end customers will pay).
- Optionally customise the product name, description, or images.
- Save.
Bulk adoption:
- Go to Catalog → Adopt Products → Bulk Adopt.
- Select a Supplier.
- Apply a pricing rule (e.g.
Supplier price × 1.4for a 40% markup). - Select products and click Adopt All Selected.
Retail Pricing
The retail price you set is the price displayed on your storefront and charged to customers. The breakdown after payment is:
| Recipient | Amount |
|---|---|
| Retailer | Your margin = Retail price − Supplier price |
| Supplier | Their price (as agreed during connection) |
| Brand | Their trade portion (automatic via Stripe Connect) |
| Platform | Transaction fee |
You never handle the splits manually — Stripe Connect distributes the payment automatically.
Catalog Overrides
You can customise how a product appears on your storefront without affecting the underlying Supplier/Brand data:
| Field | Can override |
|---|---|
| Product name | ✅ Yes |
| Description | ✅ Yes |
| Images | ✅ Yes (add your own photos) |
| SKU | ❌ No |
| Dimensions | ❌ No |
| Brand verification status | ❌ No |
Storefront Settings
Navigate to Settings → Storefront to configure:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Storefront URL | Your public-facing domain (e.g. newblinds.co.uk) |
| Business name | Displayed in the storefront header |
| Logo | Uploaded via MinIO storage |
| Default currency | GBP, EUR, USD, etc. |
| Timezone | Used for order timestamps and reports |
Domain Configuration
To use a custom domain for your storefront, add a CNAME record pointing to the Blindstrader Retailer service and then configure it under Settings → Storefront → Custom Domain.
The Nginx reverse proxy uses Redis (domain:{domain}:tenant_id) to map your domain to your tenant dynamically.
Catalog Sync
When a connected Supplier updates their catalog (e.g. new products, pricing changes), you'll receive a notification. Adopted products can be updated to the new version from Catalog → Updates.
WARNING
You are not auto-updated on Supplier catalog changes. Review changes before applying — especially pricing changes that could affect your margins.
